My Story

It took me four careers to finally find the meaning and purpose I’d been looking for. Along the way, I became interested in how people make career decisions and what it takes to find work that actually feels right.

I studied Psychology at university, then started out in Human Resources, only to quickly realise it wasn’t for me. I ended up at an investment bank, sacking people for a living - which is about as much fun as it sounds. So I ran screaming for the hills into social research.

That was great for a while - until my biological clock started ticking and spending half my life in regional Australia running focus groups didn’t seem quite compatible with that. I headed back to the nicer side of HR in recruitment, planning to stay briefly while I transitioned into career coaching. Instead, I got stuck there for years for reasons I didn’t fully understand until my ADHD diagnosis finally made everything make sense.

In Talent Acquisition, I discovered how much I enjoy helping others find work that genuinely fits. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my actual job and I quietly wondered why I couldn’t seem to do the same for myself.

I did a lot of contracting (did I mention I have ADHD?) across organisations in industries including Government, Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices, and Aged & Social Care. I even went back to some of my favourite organisations two or three times, hoping something would finally feel different as I still didn’t know how my brain worked.

It wasn’t until my ADHD diagnosis in 2023 that I finally had the missing piece that explained why I’d been stuck for so long. My diagnosis helped me understand how my brain works, why I’d struggled in jobs I wasn’t really interested in, and why I’d relied on constant novelty to stay engaged. It also helped me break through the imposter syndrome that had been part of what was holding me back (my friends laughed at the idea of me helping others with their careers when I’d changed mine so often).

Now, I help others who feel stuck uncover what’s been holding them back and find clarity, confidence, and purpose in their own careers.

I have an Honours degree in Psychology, a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management and I’m a Certified Professional Coach from the International Coach Academy.
